Pamela Partis ~ Pathfinder with a Goal

The famous Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung proposed that there are 12 archetypes which explain our personality and individualism. I can honestly say that the Explorer archetype aptly defines me. As the only child of divorced parents, I shuttled between households in California and Arizona. You’d think I’d be lonely or scared having to make new friends, but I wasn’t. Someone wise said that travel always gives you a different perspective and newfound courage. From the get-go, I thrived on change and that has continued to this day.

For example, I began my career by impulsively answering an ad looking for IT trainers back at a time when computer technology was pretty novel. I had zero experience, but jumped in and quickly acquired a range of unique skill sets that differentiated me in that emerging market. I had a great career, working for multiple companies and teaching at various colleges over the years. It took me from California to New York.

Eventually, I began my own consulting company, taking me all over the country. Thankfully, I found a husband willing to adapt to my peripatetic lifestyle. Once married, we moved from New York to San Francisco, so I was a California girl again, at least for a while. True to character, I got bored after a few years and started planning our next destination. We chose North Carolina, and much to my surprise, have been here for 18 years.

Unlike many peers, I don’t consider myself truly retired. I just refocused my drive and energy into other interests, including animal welfare and the arts - specifically Vision 4 Moore, a non-profit that produces and organizes a wide variety of entertainment events to help benefit worthy non-profit causes in our area. In short, we help those who help others. Vision 4 Moore was founded by Robert Baillie who helped so many with his kindness and determination. His son-in-law Chris Jordan now holds the reins, demonstrating the same amazing dedication.

I love working with my Vision 4 Moore colleagues and the community. As simple as it sounds, do what you love, and you’ll find yourself looking ahead, not behind at what you once did. There are so many opportunities out there. Go find the Explorer in yourself.
